Umang
Roles:
Art & Craft Instruction, Sports Education, English Teaching
Year: 2025
Behind Sanskriti School, Umang opens its doors each afternoon to children from nearby slum communities, offering them more than just homework help after their mornings in government schools.
Here, learning takes many forms—basic English lessons in verbs, nouns, and adjectives, storytelling, music, and playful games. Creative hands explore block printing, needlework, and crafts, turning simple materials into diary covers and bookmarks for the annual day sale.
Alongside the children, a women’s self-help group contributes through knitting and crochet, supporting their families with dignity.
Volunteering at Umang was a joyful exchange—I taught, created, and played, but most of all, I felt the warmth from the children’s incredible talent, and resilience.
